sportivore.com.au was founded by me, Clinton Alleway, in mid 2014 after an overseas adventure which highlighted to me the lack of casual social sporting options we have in Australia. So I set about creating something which would help people to enjoy casual, flexible and fun social sports games at quality locations. The more I looked into it the more I found a desire for this style of game which was highlight by the Australian Sports Commissions Market Segmentation study of 2013 which stated ’…sports will need to adapt their offerings if they are to stay relevant to the Australian Consumer’. This was further backed up by interactions with players over the coming year who expressed a strong desire to play sportivore style games. It had become clear to me that the way we worked as a country had changed with shift work, FIFO and family commitments become greater consumers of our leisure time while our social sports compettions continued to be played at not necessarily convenient times or days of the week.
